Join ANNLab

We are always looking for curious and self-motivated individuals to join ANNLab. We welcome:

  • Postdoctoral researchers
  • Ph.D. students
  • Master’s students
  • Undergraduate students

ANNLab draws students from Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and related fields.

Prospective graduate students: If you are interested in working with ANNLab, please email us first, before submitting a formal application. Reaching out first lets you learn about openings and fit before investing time and money in applying. If there is a good mutual fit, we will encourage you to apply to the relevant University of Arizona graduate program (Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Physics) and to name ANNLab as your research interest. You are of course always welcome to apply to these programs directly; admission decisions are made by the departments, and a formal application is always the required path.

Admitted or current University of Arizona students: We would be glad to hear from you too. If you are interested in joining ANNLab, at any level, email us to ask about openings and to arrange a conversation or lab visit.

To reach us, write to Prof. Zafer Mutlu at zmutlu@arizona.edu with a subject line starting with your intended role, for example “Prospective Ph.D. Student: Your Name”, and include:

  1. A brief introduction and the role you are interested in.
  2. A short statement of your research goals and why ANNLab is a good fit.
  3. Your CV in PDF format, including education (with GPAs), research or work experience, and any publications or presentations.

We read every email and respond to applicants whose background and interests are a strong fit for our current openings.
